Some Tips

Here are some more tips we have learned over time:

-it is good to highlight the dates on the coupons-it speeds things up at the cash (some cashiers complain that the writing is too small)
-also it is definitely good to have your coupons organized before you get to the cash - Lisa uses a mini accordion file folder to organize the coupons for that particular day. She has them organized by store (for bigger shopping trips)
-we still take a big binder in case we find in-store deals.  We recently purchased a binder with a zipper to keep them inside as the coupons kept sliding out.  As well it had lots of pockets for scissors, extra special coupons.

When you are ready to go to the till, find one that has a young person attending.  We find that anyone middle aged or older always give us the gears about coupons and is usually always rude.  The young ones think its cool to use coupons and they don't usually care that we are using them, as opposed to the older ladies who are always giving us a hard time.

There are alot of coupons out there, but it doesn't mean you need to use them all.  Some coupons are really not that good.  I find that, unless the coupon is less than $1 its not worth it, unless the item is $2 or less.  In  Canada there are only a couple of stores that allow stacking of the coupons (London Drugs and possibly Save-On Foods--depends where you live)  I think that using a 50 cent coupon on a $4 item is really defeating the purpose unless its an item you always use or the item very rarely goes on sale.
